Cove Day School is the elementary school serving our community’s Navajo kindergarten through sixth-grade students. Our safe and healthy learning environment supports the growth, development and future success of all students. We offer various programs and services to meet the diverse needs of our Navajo Nation’s youth. The Cove Day student’s life includes academic, athletic and cultural programs that promote overall well-being.

After School Tutoring

Cove Day School faculty, staff and community members offer additional learning opportunities outside the classroom. Students seeking additional help with their classwork or homework can make arrangements with specific teachers or staff members. With academic support and tutoring services, students can stay on track, advance and graduate with their class.

Digital Citizenship

Cove Day School students are given plenty of opportunities to pursue their academic and extracurricular passions. Digital citizenship prepares students for the technologies waiting for them in middle school, high school, college and beyond. We provide students with the educational, emotional, cultural and digital support they need to excel.

21st Century Program

The 21st Century Program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities outside of the classroom and regular school hours. Learning centers are established throughout the community where students engage and participate in math, science, art, music, telecommunications, advanced technologies and more.

Navajo Language / Culture

Cove Day School students will learn to express and identify with their Navajo language and culture. Knowledgeable teachers, community members and Tribal leaders share valuable lessons, workshops, activities, celebrations and tutorials on the Navajo tradition and heritage. Our curriculum provides instruction in Tribal language and culture as the local school board approves.

Athletic/PE Programs

Physical fitness and education are a priority at Cove Day School. Students' minds, bodies and spirits will develop through sports competitions and various P.E. programs. Our students increase self-confidence, build character, and develop leadership skills as they participate in sports teams and athletics. Sports seasons strengthen our school community and bond as we unite to support our student-athletes.

Response to Intervention

Cove Day School meets the diverse needs of all its students. The Response to Intervention program aims to identify a student’s unique academic and behavior modification needs as early as possible. When a student’s specific challenges are recognized early, an intervention plan can be put into effect. RTI aims to remove social and academic obstacles and improve a student’s chances of success.
