Clove Day School recognizes that parents and guardians are vital to a student’s academic success. Family involvement is as important as the contributions of the school’s educators, school board members, administrators, support staff and community members. These partnerships and open communication foster lasting connections that include families.

Parent/Guardian Involvement Policy

Cove Day School strives to educate Navajo District students with the assistance of parents and guardians. Research shows that family involvement is important in student achievement. Cove Day School believes that all families want the best for their students, so we try to communicate and work with parents and guardians to enhance the learning process and ensure success.

We strive to build ties with parents and guardians through community organizations, local businesses, family involvement activities and school board meetings. Our educators and administrators research, adopt and implement model approaches to increase parent/guardian involvement, recognizing families' important role in the learning process as teachers, supporters, advocates and decision-makers.

Parent Advisory Committee

Cove Day School has a Parent Advisory Committee composed of parents, guardians and school personnel. The PAC meets to create the school’s plan for family involvement in our educational program. Parents and guardians are informed of the policy and plan through written communication. The school holds PAC meetings on the first Wednesday of every month unless otherwise notified.

Parent/Guardian-School Compact

The Parent/Guardian-School Compact outlines how parents, guardians, school staff, and students are responsible for building and developing a partnership for student achievement.

The school's responsibility is to provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive learning environment, enabling students to meet the academic standards set by the Navajo Nation, the Bureau of Indian Education and the State of Arizona.

Parents and guardians are responsible for staying involved in their students' education by monitoring school attendance, homework completion, and the positive use of extracurricular time. They should also participate in decisions about their student’s education when appropriate.

The Parent/Guardian-School Compact focuses on open communication between parents/guardians and instructional staff through quarterly parent/guardian-teacher conferences and frequent updates on student progress.
